The series „Austrian Studies in English“, founded in 1895 and comprising some 250 volumes since its inception, offers a platform for the publication of important studies concerned with the languages, the literatures and cultures of anglophone countries. In order to make the results of research in Austria accessible to as wide a readership as possible the titles are usually published in English. Volumes appear in a loose sequence; the latest publication in this series is „Dialect use as interaction strategy", a study bringing the methodology of American interactional sociolinguistic discourse analysis, language attitude study, and variationist sociolinguistics to data from Austrian TV discussions.
From 2009 onward, the series is edited by Manfred Markus (Innsbruck), Herbert Schendl (Vienna) and Werner Wolf (Graz).
